En la presente investigación, se estudia como la movilidad urbana incide en la calidad de vida urbana de las personas del cantón central de San José. Esto mediante investigación de fuentes secundarias y entrevistas semi estructuradas aplicadas a personas de los 4 distritos de interés (Merced, Hospital, El Carmen y Catedral). Lo anterior para abordar este fenómeno desde una perspectiva cualitativa, realizando aportes nuevos desde esta posición. De esta forma, se tiene el objetivo de profundizar en el análisis de las trayectorias cotidianas de movilidad de las personas, y desde ahí comprender los efectos de la movilidad en la vida cotidiana y la calidad de vida de las personas, así como la percepción que poseen de esta misma. Dicha experiencia se valora positiva y negativamente en ciertos aspectos según diversas condiciones de la persona, como lo son la edad, género, condiciones económicas, físicas y sociales.

In urban contexts marked by housing deficits, the logic of social exclusion and inequalities, the social production of habitat has become the tool through which segments of the population in vulnerable conditions have managed to self-produce their own habitats. From the institutional point of view, the work processes developed in popular neighborhoods have not considered the participation of the people who inhabit the territories when it comes to making decisions about the future of said communities. Based on applied social research and within the framework of the Programa de Vivienda y Mejoramiento del Hábitat Humano de la Municipalidad de San José, this Final Graduation Project shows that it is possible to carry out work processes in an articulated and coordinated manner with the populations, specifically with that of Finca San Juan Oeste in Rincón Grande de Pavas, to carry out the development of a Diagnosis of the Neighborhood Situation that outlines future community improvement projects while establishing valuable links with the population of face to the future. This document is divided into a first section with Introduction, Justification, Construction of the sociological object of management and the Applied methodological strategy. Subsequently, the document is divided into 3 chapters, the first of Validation of the methodological strategy, strategy of approach to the community and structuring of the work process with the population, the second of Study and characterization of the site and the third of Application of the techniques and data collection instruments to obtain information on the population, habitat and immediate area of influence. Finally, the section of Conclusions and recommendations and the Annexes, which provide important contributions to the design of the methodological proposal presented here.
